Sarkozy' big mouth lands him in trouble

France President Nicolas Sarkozy

The Toulouse killings in France have generated world attention, this could be because they are stemming from previous 'hate' speeches by France president Sarkozy. Four people were shot in the school, three of them being students. The killings have been concluded as a xenophobic act because it seems it was not a random shooting but the school was the target. Sarkozy has previously said a few words against the religion and it seems this has not gone down well with a few individuals. The elections are coming up very soon and it could have been specifically strategised for this specific time, to reduce Sarkozy's chances of winning.Comparing this situation to Zimbabwe, where hate speech is viral, if the people had the same intuition and stamina as those of France, another genocide would have erupted already. Our very own President is in the fore front of such behaviour just like Sarkozy. His words are coming back to haunt him. It is very important to watch what you say, although no one can harm him directly, they have done so indirectly. Although he has shown remorse, it is possible he could have started the whole problem, all in the name of campaigning. This is not the first time Sarkozy has caused a religious related issue, but he seems to have an issue with politics and religion and continually fails to balance the two.  This should be a lesson to our Zimbabwean leaders, one might just lose popularity because of this hate speech. It is fun and interesting when other people are being lambasted on the basis of their religion, but honestly those affected do not forget but will wait for an opportune time to strike.

Democracy overboard

The Arabic nation's stimulus force is slowly spreading across the world. It took just a few countries for other nations to realize that they likewise needed the democracy. Unfortunately this cannot be tolerated in every country. The Arabic revolts have projected them as the pushers of democracy who have inspired even Southern Africa. This comes from the fact that 6 of Zimbabwean journalists have been arrested for planning to protest against the government after they where caught watching the Egyptian revolt.University of Zimbabwe lecturer and activist Gwisai is said to be leading the pack. It is unfortunate that this is Zimbabwe and the same liberties practiced in Egypt, Libya and Tunisia cannot be afforded here in Zimbabwe. Is it democracy overboard?People have created an unnecessary fuss over revolting  or is it a matter of  need and the revolt is due.

Government collapsing

It is saddening to note that the government can only survive from the Marange Diamonds. The government is  collapsing because the diamond mine has failed to leave up to its standard and has failed to invest in the government as proposed. The mine was due to invest about 77million yet only 19.5 million  has been accounted for. It is clear that the mine is engulfed in controversies and has put the ordinary civil servant at risk of not being paid.  It is also of concern to note that the government is heavily dependent on the diamonds. They may be the hot cake at the moment but it also signifies the fact that the industrial sector is crumbling. The government cannot collapse because of a single entity where are the other sectors, entities? The government survived without the diamond, and to note it was even better, because the diamonds have caused more conflicts and corruption. The corruption is not being accounted for and the diamonds are just being enjoyed by a few. The country needs to employ the Libyan oil policy. Every Libyan can testify they were beneficiaries of the oil exports. It was a transparent system that benefited the whole nation. The Zimbabwean economy will therefore  continue to crumble. The GNU has failed, the dollarisation of the currency has also failed and the diamonds likewise. If we analyse the whole issue we will notice that this is all due to corruption that is deeply embedded in every sector.

Media laws still haunting us

Webster Shamu was asked by the President and the Mutambara to revise the media laws specifically the Broadcasting Association Of Zimbabwe. Will this ever come to pass when Shamu is dragging his feet about the whole issue.  ZBC will continuously monopolise the airwaves as  the deadline Shamu was given is expiring next week. Will the Minister reform the law?Even if he may reform it, i guess it will be stringent and it will still be difficult for new entrepreneurs to enter the landscape. Although it is of concern and gratitude to note that the print media has been decentralised, I honestly but I do not think this will apply to the broadcast landscape.Broadcast has a lot of power than  print as it caters for the literacy levels than print. Therefore if the law is to be reformed it means they are ceding power., especially when we are nearing the elections, the media is a pertinent tool .Then again a lot of Zimbabweans have shifted to watch the South African channels from the free to air satellites. Therefore the purpose is to manipulate the remain few loyalists.

Is there no saviour among us?

We are finally nearing the ballot boxes or is there  still uncertainty?  The question arises are the candidates the perfect people to lead the country? It seems we have all been crying and campaigning for elections but we haven't considered this fact. It is for this reason that many Zimbabweans prefer to hold back and not vote, because democracy might be offered to us but there is no saviour among the candidates. We cry that democracy is not being offered yet we hold back or is there democracy when the candidates do not act in the interests of the people. From his Excellency the President,Tsvangirai, Mutambara,Welshman Ncube among others, they have all proved to have weakness that have countered the votes of the people. The Prime Minister Tsvangirai may have won the power to lead MDC T but he only won the public's vote because he was against ZANU PF not that he is a leader. Taking for instance how indecisive he is, he had publicly told the press that he was not contesting in the elections and now the he has changed his mind and is contesting. The country does not need a person who is uncertain and unsure for he will lead us to ruin. The President has also been lambasted  for not wanting to cede power. But maybe he has a reason and has seen that no one who is fit to rule has come up even if he himself has his mistakes or is it just a power issue.  Therefore who shall lead us but as for now i believe there is no prospect leader. Remember leaders are born, they do not just grow overnight.

Elections strategy to supreme powers

Constitution select committee
Elections are not relevant this year, the constitution is still being drafted and as it seems it will take a long time.It is of paramount importance to note that the delay in the constitution making could be a deliberate move. If the elections go ahead this year without the draft being finalise, then the constitution is liable to change. It will give who ever is in power supreme authority to do as they deem and they cannot be accountable because they will be no constitution. This is political strategy that is aimed at gaining supreme powers to forcefully, and change the terms of the constitution.  The reasons for the change will likely to be ideologically rationalised to passively blind us. Actually we have already been blinded, to think that the elections will bring stability, when power is not being scrambled by various people and being pulled at each other. Thus this will be the dissolving of the GNU. It is really not rational for power to be always being pulled at various ends but it is not the time to bring elections, the country is still trying to stand on its feet.

Chiadzwa mines foreign or national cake?

PM  Morgan Tsvangirai was not allowed into the mine.

Are the Chiadzwa diamond Mines a one man child or a national crown. This stems from the concern that there has been partisan selection of people allowed into the mines. The most alarming issue is that China was given the rights to visit the mine, whilst Tsvangirai had to sweat out for three years to be allowed into the mine. The critical issue is who specifically was granted permission. Tsvangirai might have been denied access obviously because of political reasons which we are not the major issue at the moment. We may all agree that China has been investing a lot of development aids into the country, but to show them our diamonds is the problem. This is history repeating itself, Lobengula sold the country in this way, by showing Rhodes and his company the gold mines. In no time Zimbabwe will be ZimChina!Although Zimbabwe will not allow colonialism again but, we are slowly being submissive to the East.
